About Mask Up

Mask Up Rochester is a small group created in 2023 in response to multiple crises. Our primary goal is distribution of masks and educational materials to protect the people of Rochester, NY from COVID-19 and wildfire smoke.

How to join

To get involved, message us on any social media or email. We always need folks to deliver masks and tests, but have lots of other roles and would love for you to be involved in whichever ways work for you.

COVID Tests

We recommend taking two to three rapid COVID tests over the course of a few days for improved accuracy. See instructions included in the test box for more details. If you don't have enough tests, even one test is much better than not testing at all!

COVID Levels

Info on levels of COVID and other infectious diseases:NYS Wastewater Dashboard for COVID: the default map shows whether COVID cases are going up, down, or staying the same over the last two weeks.Select "SARS-CoV-2 Level" in the upper right to see a map showing whether COVID levels are low, moderate, high, or very high.Rochester Respiratory Illness Dashboard:
Has sections for data on cases of COVID, influenza (flu), and RSV as well as numbers of hospitalizations and deaths. Data available October through the beginning of May.
Pandemic Mitigation Collaborative Dashboard:
National and (some) state level data and visuals on COVID levels. Includes charts showing % chance anyone is infectious for a given number of people. This info may or may not match our local situation, so keep an eye on local levels as well.
